IFPA Pro and new NPC competitor Matt Holcomb came on to talk about the benefits of taking an extended offseason! Austin and myself have said time and time again how important it is to take a longer offseason in order to gain an appreciable amount of muscle. So having Matt come on and preach the same thing turned into a great discussion! We covered the basic benefits, how long should you be in a surplus for, when to mini-cut, different methods to restore insulin sensitivity, real work expectations (in terms of bodyweight to lean weight added), and a lot more! Austin and myself thought that since the previous debate episode on High VS Low Volume training was such a big hit, we should probably cover training progression as a whole. This is a topic that we didnt see many people discussing and so obviously, we wanted to go fairly in depth with it! We covered how you should progress from a beginning trainee, to an intermediate trainee, to finally an advanced trainee.
